About me
I fell in love with film at a very young age. When I was a child, I used to make short videos of anything and everything—from cooking to daily activities, exploring the world of vlogs. My main inspiration came from YouTube videos; I was fascinated by the idea that anyone could create content and share it with the world. However, as I grew older, I realized that my film journey would be shaped more within cinema rather than YouTube.
Creativity has always been the cornerstone of my media journey. I love creating media because it allows me to express myself visually, a medium that I find incredibly fulfilling. Some of my proudest projects include a BBC News broadcast I did in Year 10 with my friends. We had so much fun, and I was primarily responsible for filming, setting up cameras, and expanding my editing skills. Another project I’m particularly proud of is my morning montage for Year 11 ATAR Media. It was my first production in Year 11, and I learned a lot about coordinating cameras and being prepared on location.
One of the biggest challenges I've faced is doubt. The film industry is a complex and often confusing pathway with no straightforward route to becoming a director of photography. For a long time, I considered becoming an architect, but I realized that my true passion was in media. I decided that if I were to pursue media, I would give it everything I've got, even if I failed.
I have acquired many skills from my media and Arts Lab projects. My ATAR Media classes have provided me with the theoretical knowledge and practical experience needed to create high-quality films. Arts Lab has given me the opportunity to explore my love for film in more detail, free from the constraints of tests and assessments.
My film projects have helped me grow personally by making me appreciate the media I consume daily. Most people watch media without understanding what goes into it, but my deeper understanding has given me a greater appreciation for it. Professionally, my projects have helped me narrow down my career path and scope my abilities.
I hope my work will impact others by not only entertaining them but also educating them. For instance, I've made videos for my dad's work, showcasing properties that quickly garnered views and helped sell the properties faster. My long-term goal is to study at an American university, specifically USC, to pursue a career in Hollywood feature films as a director of photography. With a Hollywood budget and equipment, the media I could create would be unimaginable.
My personal qualities are integral to my work and daily life. Curiosity drives me to constantly extend myself and explore new aspects of my studies. Resilience keeps me focused, and dedication helps me persevere through any task. Confidence, enthusiasm, and determination have always been my allies in achieving success. For example, I volunteered to be the MC for an art exhibition at my school, which taught me valuable public speaking skills and how to connect with an audience.
My creative process starts with ideas that resonate deeply with me, reflecting my values and interests. I develop these ideas by exploring various fields. For instance, I recently took a CPR course, learned to be a barista, acted in Year 9, and played the violin. These diverse experiences help me generate unique ideas and stories. I strive to take unique approaches to my media, often drawing inspiration from my family and personal experiences, creating a distinctive atmosphere that engages the audience.
